Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr Andrew MacMillan has extensive expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and is a leading specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and conditions which affect the jaws, oral cavity and facial complex.

At our two oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics in Toowoomba, Dr MacMillan provides a range of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, including:

  • Dental implants
We offer several dental implants for dental bridges and other solutions for missing and damaged teeth, including Neoss, Nobel Biocare and Straumann dental implants.

  • Genioplasty surgery
Genioplasty (chin surgery, chin repositioning or chin augmentation) is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the chin and may be performed in conjunction with jaw surgery.

  • Apicoectomy surgery
When root canal surgery proves unsuccessful, apicoectomy, a minor surgical procedure, may be required to remove the top (apex) of the root and save the tooth.

  • Impacted wisdom teeth
When wisdom teeth impact (don’t emerge naturally) they may need to be removed to prevent bacterial infections (pericoronitis), cysts and pushing other teeth out of place.

  • Canine exposure surgery
Exposure surgery may be required to ensure the correct eruption of canines and prevent impaction, which can lead to pericoronitis, bacterial infections and other complications.

  • Temporomandibular joint surgery (TBJ surgery)
Temporomandibular joint surgery treats TBJ disorders like temporomandibular disorder (TMD), locking of the jaw joint and misalignment of the jaw or teeth.

Registered nurses assist our anaesthetists (anaesthetics and 1st & 2nd Stage recovery), with an experienced dental nurse who specialises in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures assisting Dr MacMillan.
